In 2013, I was working for Compass Learning, an educational software company in Austin, Texas (the company was later acquired by Edgenuity, Inc.). While attending a series of educational software conferences around the country as part of my role on the company’s Marketing and Communications team, I spent many hours roaming the hallways and trade show floors asking attendees for their thoughts on education in the United States.
