Working for Compass Learning (an educational software company later acquired by Edgenuity) provided me with fun opportunities for travel in the interest of producing authentic, “human” promotional videos for the company’s products.
One of those trips sent me to Piedmont, Alabama, a small town with a big, high-profile high school that used Compass Learning’s flagship product. We visited the town and interviewed its people not just as a way to promote one district’s use of our product, but also to explore the ways in which educational technology was transforming a community hindered by economic challenges.
